How to Completely Change Your Thoughts About HVAC

Welcome to my blog. My name is Betty, and I recently invested in a new heating and cooling system. It had been years since I had purchased our old system, and my husband was alive then. This was the first time selecting my own system. I did a lot of research and even considered taking our HVAC system off the grid. Now, that my house is the perfect temperature all the time, I'm ready to try something else -- so I decided to start a blog. Here, I am going to post a range of blogs on HVAC related issues as well as home repairs and other topics. I hope that you like it.

Simple Maintenance Tips for Your Heating and Air Conditioning System

by Eva Fisher

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, commonly referred to as HVAC systems, are a staple in numerous Australian homes due to the prevailing temperatures. However, most homeowners tend to overlook or neglect this appliance until it starts causing inconveniences due to inefficiency. What most homeowners do not realize that the signs of disrepair tend to come about due to this initial neglect of the system. Not only is it prudent to have your HVAC system occasionally serviced air conditioning contractors, it is also prudent to carry out your own maintenance measures to ensure it remains in optimal working condition. Here are some simple maintenance tips that you could employ for your heating and air conditioning system.

Regularly inspect your heating and air conditioning system's filters

The first step to maintaining your heating and air conditioning system is inspecting the filters. The filters are an important aspect of your HVAC unit as they are what will determine the quality of air that is being circulated into your home. If the filters are clogged, then all the air that is being passed through them to ventilate your home will be compromised. This can lead to health concerns in your home in the form of respiratory problems. It is also leads to the aggravation of allergies.

In addition to the health risks associated with clogged filters, they also pose a risk to the functionality of your heating and air conditioning unit. Clogged filters increase the risk of overheating, and this could affect vital components in your system. That is why it is prudent to carry out regular inspections on the filters and replace or clean them as need be.

Regular inspect your heating and air conditioning system for mould

Any part of your HVAC unit that will create or be exposed to moisture increases the chances of that area becoming a breeding ground for mould and mildew. Some of the common culprits for this include the evaporator coils and the condensation pan. Mould and mildew can be quite hazardous to the health of all occupants in the home, as the spores will easily be dispersed when air is being recirculated into your residence.

However, you do not have to go into a panic. If you find mould and mildew developing, all you need to do is wipe down the various components with a mixture of bleach and water. This can stop the development before the fungi take hold. Additionally, ensure that there is no standing water being left in your unit for prolonged periods of time.
