How to Completely Change Your Thoughts About HVAC

Welcome to my blog. My name is Betty, and I recently invested in a new heating and cooling system. It had been years since I had purchased our old system, and my husband was alive then. This was the first time selecting my own system. I did a lot of research and even considered taking our HVAC system off the grid. Now, that my house is the perfect temperature all the time, I'm ready to try something else -- so I decided to start a blog. Here, I am going to post a range of blogs on HVAC related issues as well as home repairs and other topics. I hope that you like it.

Top 3 Air Conditioning Problems You Should Know About

by Eva Fisher

Whether you depend on your air conditioning system to keep you warm during winter or cool in brutally hot summers, one thing is for sure – this system is a blessing. However, your air conditioner will not function well if it's leaking, emitting an unpleasant odour, not cooling or heating or making unnecessary noise.

Just like other appliances, your air conditioner cannot last forever, so servicing it regularly is mandatory. So, how do you know that it's time to get air conditioning repair and maintenance services? This post will outline top air conditioning problems that must be rectified by your HVAC expert immediately.

The air your unit is blowing is either extremely hot or cold

One of the common AC problems is a system that produces air that's not consistent with the chosen settings. Your air conditioner is meant to offer consistent temperatures, but if it stops producing warm or cool air as needed, it could be because of several problems. These may include obstructed or damaged valves, condensation drains, coils, damaged thermostat sensor or low refrigerant levels.

The unit's filters also need to be replaced or cleaned regularly. An air conditioning system works by pulling cool air into a unit, then pushing warm air out – all this is done while filtering dust and debris from the air. If the filters aren't kept clean, you'll soon have a noisy system. Moreover, this can cause negative health problems such as asthma and allergies.

Energy bills have increased dramatically

While your air conditioner may seem to function normally, sudden energy bill spikes could be a sign that the unit needs to be repaired. Conduct an energy audit to find out if the AC is to blame for the increased bill. If so, then the unit is not working efficiently, the problem is caused by worn-out filters or air vents or by the condensing coil having lumps. Or your unit may be too old and it's time you bought a new one.

The unit is emitting strange smells or noisy

Usually, odours that come from an AC can be caused by a number of things. A clogged drain pipe causes water to build up, leading to fungi, mould or mildew growth, which circulates contaminated air in your house. Filters that need to be replaced can also cause strange smells. Your system also needs to operate almost silently – if you notice changes, it could mean that some parts need to be cleaned or replaced. Look out for banging, grinding, screeching, rattling and grating sounds since they are an indicator of serious problems.
